Fire monitors

After searching the web for possible fire monitors/water cannons, I finally decided to reuse the supplied fire monitors provided by the fitting set, not because they are looking that great..., but at least they are not over dimensioned in any way.
I also have planned to have 2 of them "working" so for realising that I removed the top pipe and drilled a 2 mm hole through the body and refitted a 2mm brass pipe.

I realize it's been a while since this particular blog has had any activity, but I just wanted to commend you on an awesome job! I just picked up this kit, although, I don't plan on starting my build yet for some time....just too much on my plate atm....

I am hoping to make 2 of my fire monitors active as well, and am curious how you were able to drill the holes without going through the side of the tube before reaching the opposite end? I'm assuming you used a drill press?

You are right i'm using an drill press, but only to drill an app. 2.1mm hole though the body/base itself (after having removed the glued "solid" tube/pipe)..
The 2mm brass tube/pipe i used instead i bought "as is" in a local hobbyshop (i only had to bend it carefully into the right angle) and slide it in the made 2.1mm hole of the body, so no drilling needed for this replacment tube/pipe.

i enjoyed building the Smit Rotterdam, i hope you will have the same experience. good luck with your build :-)

Thanks for the quick response! Makes sense buying tubes already made... After I posted the comment, I had a feeling you were going to say that... :)

Again... you did an awesome build! I have a feeling I'll be visiting your blog quite often while doing my build...
